Dr Anushka Sharma

Dr Anushka Sharma needs no introduction. She is a renowned Eye Surgeon from Mumbai & has been practicing for more than 15 years in and around Bhiwandi & Thane district. She has performed over 20,000 cataract surgeries with numerous lasers & retinal surgeries.

Born in Tanzania, she followed her passion and went on to become an accomplished cataract and phacoemulsification surgeon in the entire Thane district.

After her graduation in Ophthalmology from Central Railways, she went on to complete her super specialization with prestigious fellowship in Lasers from L.V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. (L.V. Prasad is currently rated as one of the best Eye institute in Asia

She has also earned her prestigious fellowship in Phacoemulsification & Microphaco from Agarwal’s Eye Institute, Chennai.

This was followed by another fellowship in Retinal & General ophthalmology fellowship from Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, Mumbai (Affiliate of Shankara Netralaya Hospital, Chennai).

She has been very academically inclined.

She has won many awards & prizes at various paper presentations across India & has written over a dozen publications in National journals & in the American Journal of ophthalmology.

Won 1st prize in many paper presentations such as “Radial neurotomy: An initial experience”, “The comparison between axial length calculated by conventional A-scan & the IOL Master.” Etc
Presented many papers at conferences such as Vitreo-retina in Ocular trauma, Optical Coherence Tomography in macular disorders, Pediatric Ocular Trauma etc.
Written chapters in text book such as “ The newer modalities in the treatment of Age Related Macular Degeneration”

For the past couple of years, she has held numerous seminars and ophthalmic training programs for knowledge upgradation amongst the medical fraternity across Thane district

She has been actively involved in conducting various social charity camps for the poor & needy patients in the past 10 years

6 years back, she started a special social project in Bhiwandi called “Nanhi Aankhe” whereby she aims to eradicate 100% blindness in all school going children by 2020. This project has got good appreciations from Bhiwandi residents. Free detailed eye check-up and treatment is provided to all school students in and around Bhiwandi. This project is very dear to her heart.
